If you are lost on what to do during the holidays, you can go camping and if your family does not mind you can take them with you as well. In most cases, the camping grounds are usually far from the towns and even small shops which means if you end up forgetting some of the basic necessities there will be no way of getting them until the sessions are over and this can be a great inconvenience. No matter how experienced you think you are in packing to go camping, you should not depend on your memory to get everything organized. When you are writing you packing list, it is good that you start with the basic things so that you do not end up forgetting toiletries which is no way to lie in the woods. Just because you do not want some things running out in the middle of the trip does not mean you have to take the entire supermarket with you but rather you can talk to people who have been doing this for a while to get concrete facts on what to take with you as well as the quantity. It is not fun to carry with you some things you do need because they will only add onto the weight you want to carry and is not a way to live.
Do not be fooled by the temperatures to think that you will not have to bring something warm with you because you can never be too sure about the next time the weather will shift. It is better to have one and not need it other than being left hanging when you need one. Also, know that it is very possible to find bugs wherever you are going and you should buy a cream to keep them away. The clothes you pack should be appropriate for the occasions. If it is in the woods, long trousers will be more appropriate than skirts or dresses. In addition, there is no need to pack clothes for each day especially if the trip will be extending for several weeks. It is better to wash your clothes rather than carrying a mountain of them.
Even if you have an itinerary, you may find some free time which means you can carry a book, a journal, an iPod or any other thing you can use for entertainment purposes. When you have been taking prescription medication, your time at the camp does not mean you will no longer need them and you might not be able to find a health center quickly when you are so deep in the woods. It is also good to pack some emergency medications especially painkillers so that you are not at a disadvantage in the event that you fall sick on the trip or one of your camp members falls sick.
